The Jones Girls

We went to Red Robin yesterday

1st September 2009

We went to Red Robin yesterday

I planned a really fun field trip for my girls and for the La Habra Moms Club.  We had a huge turnout – about 26 kids and 15 moms.    We went to Red Robin, a restaurant that specialized is gourmet hamburgers and good food fare.

I arranged to have each child get a tour of the kitchen and how the restaurant operates, work with the chef to make their very own made to order burger, and then they all received all sorts of goodies like free gift certificates, keepsake cups, coloring books and crayons.

They had a private room all decorated for us.   There were balloons tied to each child’s chair.  It looked amazing!!

Poor Maryssa was so wiped out and fell asleep eating her burger while sitting in the booth with the other girls.  I had to lay her down on the bench in the booth.    The event started at 2pm and my girls got to sit down and eat at about 3:15pm so I guess Maryssa needed to take a catnap – LOL!!

The kids got to sit down and have lots of socializing with each other while enjoying their full burger meal with fries and a drink for a negotiated discount price of $3 a kid.  Each mom ordered their own lunch.  I negotiated some free kids meal coupons so I was able to get my girls and my burger meal free.   I thought they were very gracious to our La Habra Moms Club.

Some interesting facts that I learned from our host that gave us the tour of Red Robin – the 1st Red Robin opened up in Seattle, WA in 1969.  They now have over 500 restaurants nationwide.

The big informative fact that I learned is that they use FRESH ground beef daily – never frozen.  They chop their vegetables fresh every morning for each day.  They hand slice their cheese and luncheon meet with an electric slicer.  It doesn’t get better than this and for now on I will be supporting Red Robin and recommending them to everyone for a good and wholesome meal.

We were Rockin’ at Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory

I arranged with the owner of Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory in La Habra forfun event with my La Habra Moms Club.   First, we got a tour of the premises.

Then our kids got to dip marshmallows in chocolate – the marshmallows cooled on a tray while we all watched how they make homemade Rocky Road Fudge.  Can I just say YUM!!! ????

We had a blast and the kids devoured their chocolate covered marshmallows.  We all bought carmel apples (that is what they are known for) and they offered a special buy 1lb of the homemade fudge and get a 1/2lb free so I HAD to indulge in that special!!

What better day than enjoying chocolate!!

Bowling and pizza

Yesterday I took the girls bowling at .  It was Savannah’s 3rd time bowling and the triplets first time bowling.  Thank goodness I had Mindy with me!!   They didn’t have bowling shoes small enough for the triplets and Savannah so they wore their own shoes.  I got bowling shoes for Mindy and me.  I had bowling coupons for free bowling so it was free for us to bowl.  Yippee!!

I organized a bowling party for our La Habra Mom’s Club at La Habra Bowl 300.  It was a really good turn out.

The girls and I got to have our own private lane since there was six of us.  We had reserved 5 lanes for the La Habra Mom’s Club and we used up all 5 lanes!!

The triplets used a special “ramp” to bowl.  They perched the ball on this special ramp that looked sort of like a slide and the ball would slide down the ramp and go down the lane toward the pins.  This is what fist time kiddie bowlers use.    Savannah crouched down and pushed her ball down the lane to get to the pins.  I have to say Savannah one us all!!   I think she might have a knack for bowling.

We had pizza afterwards at the bowling alley and all of the moms and kids had a great time.   The triplets really enjoyed their first time bowling.

Fun in Hollywood Hills

Sunday we caravan-ed with Steve and the family to Hollywood Hills.    Mindy was awed by the high profile area.  We drove along Laurel Canyon.

When we arrived, it was at this amazing house!!    The entry had a fountain full of fish nestled in a bunch of rocks.  The girls perched themselves there and had a ball.  There was a circular stair case and the party was happening upstairs.  We all went upstairs and were greeted by all of Cliff’s family – his siblings, parents, grandparents and numerous cousins.  He has a cousin who has triplets so the kids had a ball playing with the other triplets!!

The house was super sleek, decorated in Mardi Gras theme with blacks, hot pinks, golds and mirrors!!   It was truly an art form.     With so many people in the house, it made it unbearably hot.  Everyone was sweating profusely.

We e left at about 5pm and headed back on the 101-south back to our house in La Habra.

What a great vacation we had.    Relaxing, cool and lovely. Thank you so much Steve and Reyna for making us feel loved and like family.

Coldstone Ice Cream

Last Thursday 7/16, I took the girls and Mindy to Coldstone Ice Cream.   It was all of the girls first time.   What makes Coldstone so special is you can choose from about 15 different flavors and then they have over 100 different toppings and you make your own creation.    So you tell them what kind of concoction to make and they mix it all together on a frozen slap right in front of you.

The girls had a blast picking out their own ice creams – especially Mindy.  She was so excited.

It has been so hot here, like 95 – 100 degrees so the ice cream outing was perfect.  Some friends of ours joined us – Corrie and her kiddos.

Pizza and fun

Yesterday I took the girls to Carino’s Italian restaurant in Whittier.   I had coordinated with the manager for the La Habra Mom’s Club kids to make pizzas, get a tour of the kitchen, meet the chefs and watch their pizza cook in a traditional brick pizza oven.

We had a separate room set up for us.   When we walked in, the tables had every pizza topping imaginable.  We had about 10 moms and about 20 kids.

The kids went to work on decorating their pizzas.   They had some really neat designs going on!!  Then they walked their pizzas over the 2 chefs and watch their pizzas be put on a wooden board and slid into the brick pizza oven.  They watched as their pizza cooked.   While the pizzas were cooking, the manager gave us a tour of the kitchen, prep area and the cook area.    It was amazing.

The kids sat down and ate their pizzas and were given any beverage of their choice in cute souvenir cups.

The moms ordered lunch and we had a great time too.

What a great day it was!!

We are shopping Divas!!

Today I took all 4 girls shopping at Walmart.    I had Amanda sitting in the seat of the basket and Maryssa was sitting inside the basket.   Miranda and Savannah walked beside me while we shopped.

Savannah wanted to get in the basket with Maryssa.  Miranda loved her freedom and felt like a grown up walking beside her mommy!

Then it all changed….we approached the dozen or so aquariums with many different kinds of fish.  All of the girls immediately demanded to get out of the basket.   I let them all out and they glued their faces to the glass aquariums.  They were mesmerized by the swaying of the swimming fish.   They all agreed that their favorite fish were the algae eaters…they loved their whiskers and said they looked like cats that were fish!!   So cute!!

Then I let them all hold hands and we shopped through the store.  It was their first time not sitting in the basket and walking with me while I shopped.    I was so proud of them.

They explored each isle and picked up a product, studied it and then they put it back on the shelf mindfully after  my request to do so.  They really were good little shoppers.

Once we were in line at the check out that was when things got a little crazy.  You know how the stores put all of the candy and toys by the check out stand – they know parents will buy the stuff to keep their kids quiet and from going ballistic in the store .   Well, I was firm and polite all at the same time when I told the girls that they couldn’t have any candy, gum or toys.     They did really give a big fuss at all about it.  Whew!!

I can only imagine what shopping is going to be like when they are teenagers…
