Manhattan Beach and Redondo Beach

Manhattan Beach and Redondo Beach

I spoke to my Uncle Ned on Friday and he invited us to spend Saturday at his beach house in Manhattan Beach.      He was spending the weekend in Orange.

So Saturday after our morning visit with Uncle Ron, who brought some yummy donuts for all of the kiddos, at about 10:30am we headed out and I took all of the girls and our dog Teddy down to Manhattan Beach.  It is about a 45 minute drive.

This was the first time my girls have been to his house.  I was so scared of them going up and down the stairs and also concerned they might break something valuable.   They thought his house was so beautiful – especially Mindy.  She said it was her very first time being in a 3 story house, plus a house on the beach too!!

I had brought sandwiches and lunch stuff.  We ate lunch on his balcony and enjoyed the views of the beach.    The weater was perfect and sunny.   After lunch we headed out to the beach, and  Teddy came with us along with the girls sand toys.

It was the girls first time enjoying the ocean.   They had a ball.  They got as far as their knees and then would run out of the water.    We all sat in the water on the seashore.    They had fun chasing each other on the beach and made cute sandcastles.  They made some friends on the beach and helped make sandcastles with them as well as played with another girl’s barbie toys and barbie corvette car!!   Teddy enjoyed being out with us.

Then the girls buried me alive in the sand.     Everyone was getting so dirty and sandy.    It was fun and messy – just like a beach day is supposed to be.

Mindy told me it looked like I was turning into a lobster.  I was so busy putting sunblock on the girls, I forgot to put some on myself.   So, about 4  hours of playing on the beach, we headed back to the beach house.

We all took showers and got dressed.  We packed up our stuff and then headed out to Redondo Beach Pier for an early evening.

I took the girls to the Redondo Beach Pier in May 2008, with my brother Rob, and we had to use the quad stroller back then.   This time = no stroller!!  Yippee!!   Mindy and I each had 2 girls holding hands with us.

This was the first time Mindy had ever been on a pier.  She was a little scared and excited all at the same time.  So we walked around and then everyone decided it was dinner time and they were hungry.  We ate at a cute little restaurant that overlooked the ocean.    All of the girls had burgers and fries and I had a bowl of clam chowder.

Afterwards we walked the pier some more and we ran across this cart selling blow up toys and fun stuff.  I got all 4 girls huge blow up Nemo’s and I got Mindy and blinking wand.     They were all thrilled.

Then we went shopping at a really neat ocean themed store.   I got Mindy a bag of sea shells, a beach themed frame that said California on it and some post cards.

What a great day we had!! I just love being at the beach during summertime.  I think my girls do too, as well as Mindy.
