The Jones Girls

I am going to be a co-leader for Daisy Girl Scout troup #7274

2nd January 2010

I am going to be a co-leader for Daisy Girl Scout troup #7274

If I wasn’t busy enough, I have taken on the position of co-leader for Savannah’s Daisy Girl Scout Troop #7274.   I will be working with Lyn, the mother of  Tess, who is Savannah’s classmate and friend in Kindy.    The beneft with being a leader is that I can bring the triplets with me and I won’t need a babysitter – yay!!

We had a meeting today to familiarize ourselves with starting the troop and get things under way.   I really like Lyn.  She is an event planner for the city of Whittier and I really appreciate her organizational and planning skills.   She and I are very similar…very detailed oriented with great imaginations.  I believe we are going to have a blast with our new troop.

The Daisy troop will meet 2 Mondays a month at Savannah’s school, El Portal at 1:30pm right after school in the multi purpose room.   There will be 11 girls in the troop, most of them Kindy and a couple from 1st grade.     We have our agenda all put together and our first meeting with our troop is on Monday January 11th.

All of the girls will be earning petals patches.  Our goal is to earn 10 petals by January to make the daisy on the girls smocks.    The Daisy troop will be for 2 years. Then I will be the leader when the triplets start Kindy and Lyn will be the leader for the Brownie Troop when Savannah becomes a 2nd grader.

Daisies don’t sell cookies and we don’t do fundraising which is really nice.  We have snacks each meeting, sing a themed Girl Scout song and Girl Scout Promise and do our activity.

Savannah’s School Christmas Performance

After we left Michelle’s Bakery, we ran home to change and get ready for Savannah’s school Christmas performance.  It was a chilly night so we all bundled up.  Rosanne joined us.

I was so excited!  This was our little girl’s first school performance and I could wait.    It was a wonderful performance and production.

The Kindy Kids stole the hearts of everyone and was the favorite hands down.  Savannah and all of the Kindy Kids wore their cute PJ’s and brought a Teddy Bear.  This was the them for what they sang..  “Me and   Bear” and “Santa Clause is coming to town”.

The PTA had a beautiful table of all sorts of delicious goodies along with hot chocolate, coffee and even mistletoe for sale!!    We bought some stuff…of course we wanted to contribute to the PTA.

Savannah is a reader!!

I am doing flash cards with Savannah to help her learn to spell and sound out letters and words.    Tonight I video taped her reading her flash card words.   This was the first time I presented these word flash cards to her.   She can read 2o words now.   She is also sounding out words and learning how to read words such as my, by, see, etc.  This is what she can read now:

White
Brown
Pink
Red
Purple
Yellow
Orange
Gray

Parent Teacher Conference for Savannah today

This week is Parent Teacher Conference at Savannah’s school.    This means all of the kids get out of school early all week long and they get Friday off.    Savannah’s late bird class has been moved to early bird and that has been a real pain.  Friday I took all of the girls to Disneyland and we had lots of fun!!

I met with Savannah’s teacher today.    Savannah knows all of her alphabet by site and sound.    She knows most of her shapes except for cylinder, rectangle and cone.  I will work with her on those shapes.    She can count to 26 and she will be required to count to 30 by the end of Kindy so I would say she is doing great with her numbers seeing that she has only been in school for a couple of months now.

Savannah knows how to spell and read most “word” colors.     She also knows her colors by sight too.

The teacher says she is doing great in school and to keep up the good work!!  I am so proud of my sweet little Kindergartner!!

Mom and Rosanne, thank you for your support

I try not to bother too many people about Savannah’s school fundraisers, especially with this terrible economy.

However, our school is doing this really cool fundraiser with See’s Candy.  When I think of See’s Candy, I know of 2 people who are devoted fans of the yummy stuff…my mom and my sister Rosanne.

The fundraiser will raise money for the art program for Savannah’s school.   It enriches their music and choir program as well as liberal arts.    School funding has taken this away from the kids so it is up to PTA and us parents to raise the money.

The candy orders have to be turned in by Nov. 10th and the candy is delivered to us on November 24th.   I remembered Rosanne is coming down here for a few days to visit during this time and I asked her if she would be interested in purchasing some candy.  She could have it when she arrives down here.

I sent her pamphlet of the list of candy products for sale.   She gave it to mom to look at.    Low and behold, God Bless their hearts, they provided orders from about 8 people and they also ordered themselves.     They purchased about $180 in candy.  Thank you so much Mom and Rosanne for opening up your hearts and helping Savannah’s school.   We truly appreciate it.

Love you xoxoxoxo

Savannah got an award today

I picked up Savannah from school today.  She proudly showed me a pink button pinned on her shirt.   She smiled and said she got an award for having perfect attendance at school.    I hope she can continue the trend.  I would love her to have a perfect
attendance by the end of the year.

Way to go Savannah!!   She is really doing great in school and making friends such as Tess, Lauren, Emily and Summer.  Summer can be a bit mean and tells Savannah she can’t be her friend sometimes.   I think I am going to talk to Summer’s teach about it…this needs to be mentioned to Summer’s mom, I think.

Savannah’s costume parade

Today was Savannah’s costume parade at school. She was so excited to wear her costume to school.   The school parade started at 10:30am, just 20 minutes after I dropped her off to school.

I didn’t have time to dress up the triplets so I dressed them up in the car the 20 minutes before the costume parade started.

The Farina’s parked beside us.  They were their to see their 2nd grade twins in the costume parade, they were Fairy and the Frog characters.

I think the triplets got more attention than the costume parade did.   No one at our school have seen triplets before so it was fun!!   Thanksfully everyone moved their attention to their kids in their costumes.    Savannah’s Kindy class was the first class in the parade.  All of us waived and said Hi to Savannah.  She had so much fun.  I took lots of pictures of the parade and  of  Savannah with her classmates.   I also took pictures of my girls with the Farina girls in their costumes.

It was a lot of fun!!
